"Thanks for a great session today. Your instruction was excellent and I now feel ready to put things into practice. The stretching/mobility and body weight exercises were great fun." Stephen Reed.
"Well spank me with a haddock and call me Susan, these kettlebell things are awesome. The workshop is designed to introduce you to the workouts and some basic movements and mobility drills. I was clenching muscles I didn't know were there. It's hard work, to be honest I wasn't expecting to be as knackered as I was! Looking forward to seeing the results in 3-4 months time and how this affects my other training. If you have not tried Kettlebells before, I can highly recommend it and if you are in the Aberdeen area then get onto Rays blog and get signed up." Stuart Mundy
"The time and effort you have put in has definitely paid off and I cant wait to develop under your instruction. This is a great workout for women, as it works all the muscle groups with out building bulk, just strength, tone and fitness, bring on the next class!" Carolyn Ewen

ATTACK OF THE BELLS - Episode 1
Rannoch Donald of Simple Strength presents resilient rx
re·sil·ient/riˈzilyənt/Adjective
1. (of a substance or object) Able to recoil or spring back into shape after bending, stretching, or being compressed.
rx Abbreviation
1. Prescription.
2. (in prescriptions) Take.
Before we develop the hard skills of strength and power we need to create a foundation. Focussing on Breath Work, Mobility and Structure we will show you how to increase performance, reduce injury and recover faster.
Breath Works - Breath is the absolute foundation of any activity, yet we take it for granted. It is the only autonomic function we can actively influence which allows us to control how we respond to physical, mental and emotional stress. We will work on drills that bring our focus back to the breath and allow us to perform with less effort. In addition we will explore the recovery aspects of foundation breathing and Qi Gong.
Mandatory Mobility - 600 muscles, over 200 bones, hundreds of joints, all working in concert. We mobilise the body to create pain free movement. A mobile body allows us to generate and express power and adapt to the demands of our environment. Find out how to iron out the kinks and regain natural alignment.
Structure - By connecting breath and mobility we can create a platform that will support all our physical endeavors. Structure allows us to practice strength as a skill, generate power and relax under pressure.
All of these qualities will improve your training, reduce your stress levels, accelerate your recovery and develop resiliency. We will take these concepts and integrate them over the course of the workshop.
ATTACK OF THE BELLS - Episode 2
Ray Wilson of Kettlebells Aberdeen presents getting complex
Kettlebell Complexes are a great way for improving athleticism. We will explore compound movements of kettlebell and bodyweight exercise. This adds variety to our workouts and encourages improved athleticism. Additionally, we will also discover how we can incorporate sport-specifc training to our kettlebell workouts. Replicate movements under load of a kettlebell and bang out multiple reps of a desired action as recovery. Single and double kettlebell work will challenge our abilities - breathing, co-ordination, endurance and concentration.
ATTACK OF THE BELLS - Episode 3
Gerry Higgins of Raw Fitness presents kettlebell sport
GS Training is all about controlling mind & body. Strength endurance alone only allows an athlete to work at a fast pace for 1 – 3 minutes before performance decreases, yet in GS, Kettlebells are lifted over 100 times in a period of 10 minutes. GS is a sport that involves pacing, meaning there is a pause between reps which can be up to 20 seconds for some athletes. A short rest between reps allow for a certain amount of restitution.
During Part 3 we will focus on:-
Breathing - A general rule is that there is always more breath cycles than reps (one breath cycle is one inhale and one exhale).
Mechanics - e.g in swing and snatch and clean, the grip and low back are very relaxed.
Methodology - understanding periodization in training (macro, meso and micro cycles etc).
We will also discuss complementary training for strength, general endurance, special strength endurance and flexibility.
Oh and lift & press & swing & clean & jerk & push heavy s**t.......
Sunday 28th August. 10am - 4pm, XTS gym, £60. Book by contacting Ray.
